Everyone at Wolfgang Digital is delighted to announce that we will be taking part in this years Marketing Festival in Brno, Czech Republic.  This year's festival, which is spearheaded by Jindrich Faborsky, will be the third of its kind and will run from November 26th - 28th, taking place in the Janáček Theater where the festival has been held both years previously (if it aint broke, don't fix it!).

Jindrich promises potential attendees that Marketing Festival 2015 will be no ordinary digital marketing event, assuring them that each and every one of his speakers will be a world leader in their chosen field and that every last talk taking place at the festival will reward its audience with highly valuable take home points which they will be able to implement into their business practices straight away.  In order to achieve this noble goal, Jindrich is going to great lengths to ensure that all of Marketing Festival 2015's talks avoid what he considers to be the four greatest weaknesses that plague many digital marketing talks and events, namely:

  • Shameless Self-Promotion:  
    Many guest speakers at digital marketing events use their stage time as free ad space (or, worse still, ad space which they have been paid to have!), continuously bigging up either themselves or their company in an attempt to secure new clients, Twitter followers or simply massage their own egos.  This kind of presentation has very little value for audiences who want to take away new ideas/inspiration so that they can help their business grow by themselves - the 'teach a man to fish' philosophy.
  • Content Summary:  It doesn't take a genius to surf the internet and copy a whole bunch of information from the websites/blogs of industry Thought Leaders, run it through a thesaurus to make it look a bit different (some people don't even bother dong this!), hastily paste it into a few generic presentation slides and regurgitate the information on stage.  Alas, this is what some people think passes for a content marketing talk these days.
  • Content Recycling:  
    When people pay good money to attend a digital marketing conference they want something fresh, something new - they certainly don't want to see a touring slide show (not to mention the same intro video which gobbles up the first 5 minutes of the presentation's allocated time slot) which has been presented many times over for the past year or so.  A lot of digital marketing speakers seem to think that this is acceptable in this day and age but it most certainly is not.

    The key to engaging an audience is an enthusiastic speaker who is also engaged and excited by their own presentation. This is simply not possible when the speaker is re-uttering the same words and viewing the same slides for the 30th time over the course of the last six months.  That is why Jindrich insists that all of his guest speakers prepare new and exclusive presentations, ensuring that Marketing Festival attendees get something truly unique and memorable for their time.
  • Abstract Talk:  
    A lot of digital marketing talks are full of 'filler' which doesn't actually teach the audience anything of real value.  It is easy to tell when a speaker is trying to stretch four minutes' worth of information out over a 40 minute presentation - it's boring!  Some people think they are being very clever by cracking out the thesaurus and saying the same thing many times over using as many synonyms as they can think of.  All they are really doing is the equivalent of a football player juggling with the ball beside the corner flag in stoppage time.  It's dull and nobody wants to spend their hard earned money on that!
